CyclingTips will host live streaming of the Alabama Cycling Classic, held in Anniston on April 8-9.
Former Tour de France cycling veteran Frankie Andreu will provide live announcing course-side for both days of cycling events, the Sunny King Criterium on Saturday, April 8, and the McClellan Road Race on Sunday, April 9. Expanded webcast productions will feature announcing and rider interviews by sports announcer Brad Sohner both days.
Saturday’s racing is live from 12 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. CDT and Sunday’s is on a one-hour delay from 10 a.m. to around 5 p.m. CDT.
Racing moves just north of downtown on Sunday to the Historic Buckner District. The pro women will tackle a 69-mile course beginning at 9 a.m. and the pro men will battle for 91 miles beginning at 1 p.m. The course will again include multiple laps over Bains Gap, which includes gradients up to 17 percent.
Andreu will provide live commentary from the awards stage at the start/finish. The online broadcast by Sohner will begin at 10 a.m., with a one-hour delay. Live race updates and photos will be provided for race fans via Facebook and Twitter. Webcasts are presented by Alabama Power.
“The Sunny King Criterium is one of the most popular stops of the USA Cycling Pro Road Tour. It’s still early in the racing season, so going back-to-back with the McClellan Road Race makes the Classic a true test for some of the best pros in the country. It’s a guarantee to have some fierce racing both days in Anniston, and several ways to follow the action with live announcing, social media updates and a polished webcast,” said Marilyn Cullinane, race director for a fourth year.
Alabama Cycling Classic events are sanctioned by USA Cycling, and are part of the national Professional Road Tour.
