All of Team DSM’s nine victories in 2021 belong to Lorena Wiebes, and the former Dutch national champion notched her ninth victory of the season at stage 5 at the Giro Donne on Tuesday.

Wiebes outsprinted Emma Norsgaard (Team Movistar) and Marianne Vos (Jumbo-Visma) to win the stage.

Stage 5 started in Milan and continued on to four laps of a final circuit. It was the perfect stage for Wiebes, flat and fast. Team DSM’s Coryn Rivera led Wiebes out for the victory and held on for 10th on the stage.

Wiebes first victory of 2021 was at Scheldeprijs in April, another flat one, but with some Belgian spice thrown in. She took the opening prologue at the Ceratizit Festival Elsy Jacobs, her only non-sprint finish victory in 2021.
