Tadej Pogačar and UAE Team Emirates have announced that the 23-year-old will not line up to defend his crown at Sunday’s Liège-Bastogne-Liège.

Pogačar was due to return to Belgium in time for ‘La Doyenne’, but he will instead remain in Slovenia with his fiancée Urška Žigart, who posted on social media that her mother passed away from cancer earlier this week.

Brandon McNulty will replace his teammate in the UAE Team Emirates squad for Sunday’s race.
