Our latest reader-submitted Photo Gallery is now ready for your viewing pleasure. Of course, a new gallery also means the naming of the winner of our most recent contest. Again, we received a nice selection of photos and, again, it was tough to choose a winner, but we went with the image with a terrific seasonal message, one we can all endorse: Ken M’s “Santa left me a bike trail under the tree.” It’s a nice shot, but more importantly, Ken, we all know what to ask for next Christmas!

It’s been a while since the editors of VeloNews chose a mountain bike racer as Cyclist of the Year — two years shy of a decade, to be exact. In the years following our choice of Frenchwoman Anne-Caroline Chausson in 1999, the sport of off-road racing steadily slipped into the shadow of its better-funded, better-organized cousin on the road.
