Racing ’cross at the U.S. national championships this week is about a lot more than pain and glory between the course tape. A number of non-profit organizations – and their supporting riders – are hoping to make big gains in Bend, Oregon.

Todd Wells, a two-time elite national cyclocross champion is the reigning cross-country and short-track mountain bike champ and wants badly to add a third jersey to his 2010 collection.
