Each day during the cyclocross national championship week the race course is open at noon for riders of all categories to take a few laps. On Thursday VeloNews grabbed a few photographs of one of the trickiest corners of the course.

Some riders managed to successfully navigate the frozen ground but a good number of folks didn’t quite take the right line. In one of the photos a masters rider takes out multi-time national champ Tim Johnson (Cannondale-cyclocrossworld.com).  Johnson laughed it off and helped the fallen rider back up the hill.

With conditions like these, tire choice and a low center of gravity will be key for a national championship performance.
