The Providence Journal reports that promoters of the KMC Cyclo-cross Festival, held annually at Rogers Williams Park, in Providence, Rhode Island, announced on Friday that they are vying to be part of the 2015 UCI cyclocross World Cup.

Governor Chafee and Providence Mayor-elect Jorge O. Elorza attended the news conference at the Rhode Island Foundation and said they support the efforts to turn the six-year-old festival into a World Cup event.
