Danny Summerhill (K-Edge-Felt) and Katerina Nash (Luna) shone most brightly under the lights at Saturday’s Derby City Cup in Louisville, Kentucky.

The nighttime kickoff to a weekend of racing was run at Eva Bandman Park, site of the 2013 UCI Cyclocross World Championships.

Summerhill took the hourlong elite men’s race by just two seconds ahead of U.S. champion Jeremy Powers (Rapha-Focus) with Logan Owen (California Giant) third at 35 seconds back.

Earlier, in the 40-minute elite women’s race, Nash soloed to victory with 18 seconds to spare over runner-up Kaitlin Antonneau (Cannondale-Cyclocrossworld.com). Courtenay McFadden (GE Capital-American Classic) rounded out the podium in third.

Racing continues Sunday at Eva Bandman Park.
