Dideriksen wins junior women’s road title; Catlin ninth

FLORENCE, Italy (AFP) — Amalie Dideriksen (Denmark) won the junior women’s road race at the UCI Elite Road World Championships on Friday morning in Florence.

The Danish 17-year-old beat Russian Anastasia Iakovenko in a sprint, three seconds ahead of Olena Yakovenko Demydova (Ukraine).

American Kelly Catlin was fifth in the field sprint, at 34 seconds, for ninth on the day.

Séverine Eraud (France), winner of Monday’s individual time trial, was seventh.
