Helen Wyman, Tim Johnson ring up victories at Jingle Cross finale

IOWA CITY, Iowa (VN) — Kona’s Helen Wyman rang all three bells during the Jingle Cross Rock weekend, taking her third consecutive victory on Sunday at the Johnson County Fairgrounds.
In men’s racing, a resurgent Tim Johnson (Cannondale-Cyclocrossworld) took his second consecutive win in Iowa City.
Wyman once again proved unstoppable on what she called “an awesome course … better than Louisville.”
On her final trip up Mt. Krumpit the crowd sang a rendition of “God Save the Queen,” to which the British cyclocross champion responded by steering with one hand while directing the impromptu choir with the other.
Wyman capped the performance by crossing the line 35 seconds ahead of Julie Krasniak (Rapha-Focus), who was followed eight seconds later by Amanda Miller (Optum-Kelly Benefit Strategies).
On the men’s side, Johnson once again rode away from the pack for the second straight day. Teammates Jamey Driscoll and Ryan Trebon both took turns at the front of the race, but Trebon called it a day after three laps, leaving Driscoll to snag the runner-up spot.
Ben Berden (Raleigh-Clement) won a battle for third with Rapha’s Chris Jones to wrap up the weekend’s racing.
