Jeremy Powers (Rapha-Focus) and Elle Anderson (California Giant-Specialized) won Saturday’s kickoff to the Baystate Cyclocross Weekend in Sterling, Massachusetts.

The weekend’s races, run at the Chocksett School, serve as rounds nine and 10 of the Verge New England Cyclocross Championship Series.

Powers was alone with one lap to race and took the men’s victory ahead of Curtis White (Cannondale-Cyclocrossworld.com), with Jeremy Durrin (Optum-Kelly Benefit Strategies) finishing third.

Like Powers, Anderson soloed to the win in the women’s race with Emma White (Cyclocrossworld.com) second and Crystal Anthony (Optum) third.

Racing continues with round two on Sunday.
