Jesse Lalonde (Gary Fisher 29 / BKB / T6) and Holly Liske (Hayes Disc Brakes) won at the Smokin Spoke on Sunday afternoon. The Spoke, the tenth race in the 2008 Subaru-sponsored Wisconsin Off Road Series, was held at Camp Tesomas in Rhinelander, Wisconsin.

Light rain on Saturday evening left the fast, sandy trails in ideal shape for racing. Lalonde (1:24:05.3), of Madison, Wisconsin, took an early lead with teammate and brother Marko Lalonde (1:24:05.9). Initial plans for a three-lap, 34-mile race were pre-empted under threat of an oncoming

thunderstorm, and the men were off the track after two laps, in time to stay dry.

In the twolap Elite women’s race, Liske (1:47:01) fought off wind, rain and light hail in the last few miles to finish ahead of current series leader Abigail Strigel (1:48:18, Team Polska FDL) for her first
overall win of the 2008 season.
