Tibco's Lauren Stephens and Hincapie's Dion Smith take victory on day 1 of the 30th Redlands Classic

Lauren Stephens and Dion Smith won stage 1 of the Redlands Bicycle Classic Wednesday in Highland, California.

Stephens (Tibco-To The Top) took victory in the 41-mile women’s Highland Circuit Race to kick off the five-day National Racing Calendar opener.

Karol-Ann Canuel (Specialized-lululemon) finished second and Leah Kirchmann (Optum-Kelly Benefit Strategies) was third.

Smith (Hincapie Development) won the 58-mile men’s stage ahead of James Oram (Bissell). Will Routley (Optum-Kelly Benefit Strategies) was third.

The 30th Redlands Classic continues Thursday with the 7.8-mile stage 2 time trial in Big Bear.
