LISBON (AFP) —Theo Bos (Blanco) seized the lead of the Volta ao Algarve (Tour of Algarve) after winning Friday’s second stage.

The 195km leg started and finished in Lagoa, in southern Portugal.

Friday’s stage saw an early break of 10 dwindle to six before the peloton shut it down 5km from the finish. Bos then out-sprinted Giacomo Nizzolo and Bruno Sancho to take the stage win and the leader’s yellow jersey.

Saturday’s third stage will take the peloton over 193km from Portimao to Viola Malhoa.
