Coach says Froome, Wiggins tandem possible in 2014 Tour — Sky Sports
Team Sky coach Rod Ellingworth said he sees “no reason why not” that Bradley Wiggins could ride alongside defending champion Chris Froome in next year’s Tour de France.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Sky’s performance director said the team is plotting strategies based on what comes out of Wednesday’s presentation of the 2014 Tour route.
“I haven’t spoken to Bradley about it personally, but I think we could see him on the start line of the Tour next year, which is a goal for the team. We want to put the best nine riders on the line and, for sure, Bradley in good shape could be there.
“When you have a team of winners and you put two great riders like Bradley and Chris together it is a challenge, but they are working on it and I think Bradley can do it for sure.
“He aimed for the Giro last year, and not particularly the Tour, so we have got to get his goals for next year and we will plan from there really.”
