Stage winner
Samuel Dumoulin (Cofidis) won out of the winning four-man breakaway featuring American Will Frischkorn (Garmin-Chipotle), the Tour’s first winning break this year. The diminutive Dumoulin, one of the smallest riders in the peloton, played it perfectly in the final 1.5km. Tour-rookie Frischkorn came within a wheel length of victory as Dumoulin became the first French winner of the 95th Tour. (5h05:27 at 40.857kph)

Race leader
Romain Feillu (Agritubel) started the day best-placed among the four attackers, 58th overall at 18 seconds back. He buried himself in the second half of the stage once it become clear the break had a shot. Third in the stage was good enough to claim the first French yellow jersey this year and the first Frenchman in yellow since Cyril Dessel in 2006. Frischkorn slotted into third overall at 1:44 back. Overnight leader Alejandro Valverde (Caisse d’Epargne) finished in the front pack and slipped to fourth at 1:42 back.

Green jersey
Kim Kirchen (Columbia) sprinted to 11th to add 15 points to maintain his grip on by just four points to Thor Hushovd (Credit Agricole), 69-64. Valverde slipped to fourth with 49 points while Robbie McEwen (Silence-Lotto) led the pack across the line to notch 22 points and moved into 22nd at 31 points.

King of the Mountains
With no rated climbs, Thomas Voeckler (Bouygues Telecom) leads Sylvain Chavanel (Cofidis), 19-11. With no rated climbs in Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s stages, Voeckler will carry the polka-dot jersey unchallenged until Thursday’s summit finish at Super-Besse.

Best Young Rider
Feillu won the day’s honors and rose into the overall lead, now 1:52 ahead of Andy Schleck (CSC). Overnight leader Riccardo Riccò (Saunier Duval-Scott) got caught up behind a crash and lost more than two minutes, slipping to seventh in the white jersey GC at 2:24 back.

Best team
Garmin-Chipotle won the stage and moved atop the rankings, 41 seconds ahead of Cofidis and 1:16 ahead of Barloworld.

Most aggressive rider
Frischkorn won the day’s prize, with the eight-man panel writing awarding his panache against the rain and hills of Brittany.

Lanterne Rouge
Nicki Sorensen (CSC), who hit the deck hard with 22km to go, finished last at 13:24 back with cuts and scrapes to his back. The Danish national champ crashed hard after apparently striking a traffic signal on a traffic island. Wim Vansevenant (Silence-Lotto) is last overall in 178th at 16:40.

Top American
Frischkorn was second in the stage and slotted into third overall.

The peloton
Angel Gomez (Saunier Duval-Scott) crashed out with 22km to go. 178 riders remain.

Medical report
? Hoste (Silence-Lotto), back pain; Evans (Silence-Lotto), superficial cuts on the third finger of his left hand in a crash in the first kilometer
