The Tour de France organizers got a bit experimental with stage 17.
To begin with, they implemented a Formula One-style start grid. And the stage was crazy short at just 65 kilometers. There weren’t any valley roads to bring back attacks, and the finish climb up Col du Portet was crazy hard.
