These uber-pricey bibs pack a punch and ultimately justify the price. We don’t say that lightly in an era of low-cost, high-quality bibs all over the internet. But the Bib Short V.3 from Ashmei has earned a permanent place in our closets because of its exceptional fit, high compression, and comfortable bib straps.

A thick chamois provides a well-cushioned basis for a long-haul bib. Over rough terrain and all-day rides, you’ll be glad you have it. there’s a bit of a diaper feel to it the first time you ride these shorts, but the more you wash them, the more the bibs overall soften and become more comfortable.

The bibs are water- and wind-resistant and the lay-flat straps offer exceptional comfort over the shoulders. The straps on the V.3 were redesigned to eliminate any potential seam-rubbing on the shoulder blades. It’s a big comfort upgrade that we love. A mesh back panel provides ample venting in hot weather.

These highly-compressive bibs got softer after a few washings for a more comfortable feel against the skin, though they never lost that compressive, racer’s fit. They’re expensive, but they’re almost perfect; they’re tops in our regular rotation.
