Scoring an eight out of 14 on Bontrager’s stiffness index, the Anara’s nylon composite sole provides a little more give, compared to the company’s more expensive Meraj women’s shoes with carbon soles. But this extra compliance means your feet won’t be screaming at you after a long ride. Just don’t expect the same responsive ride that you’d get from the top-of-the-line carbon sole.

But versatility is where the Anaras really stand out. Compatible with both three-bolt and two-bolt SPD style cleats, you can hit the road or jump into a spin class using the same shoes. It’s like you’re getting two sets of shoes for the price of one, and at $160, that’s a killer price.
