Easton’s AX line of gravel components is expanding to carbon gravel wheels with the EC90 AX and EC70 AX. With 24mm internal rim widths, both are built specifically to accommodate 35mm and larger tires for gravel and adventure riding.

  • Wide internal rim width (24mm) specifically for 35mm+ tires.
  • Lightweight at 1,470g and 1,515g per set, respectively.
  • Proven on the largest gravel stage at the Dirty Kanza 200 by the Easton Overland team.
  • Compatible across major axle standards with easy to replace hub endcaps.

The AC90 AX uses Easton’s Vault hub which engages quickly (every 60°) for near instantaneous acceleration and has easy to replace endcaps for a variety of axle standards. Lacing the hub to the 21mm deep carbon rim are 24 3x double butted Sapim straight pull spokes. Weighing in at only 1,470g, this wheelset costs $1,550, which is competitively priced by the standards of high end carbon wheels from known brands.

For the AC70 AX wheels, Easton uses 28 3x double butted Sapim straight pull spokes to lace the 21mm deep rim to its X5CL hub, which has endcaps available for all major axle standards. The pricing for this set, $1,200 makes them worth a look as well. Both wheelsets are disc only, using center lock rotors.

These wheels are designed to take on the rigors of gravel riding, and Easton has been putting them through the ringer. Its Overland gravel racing team has been using them at races this year, including during Amity Rockwell’s win at the Dirty Kanza 200. Should the EC 90 version fail, Easton offers a Carbon Confidence Guarantee, offering repair or replacement of the wheels during the first two years after purchase. Whether you damage the rim, hubs or spokes, Easton will help you get back on the trails as soon as possible.

Stay tuned for a review of these wheels in the upcoming gravel issue of PELOTON.
