The CarboCut from Effetto Mariposa has toothless, grit-edge tungsten carbide blade that is intended for cutting hard materials such as ceramics, titanium and steel, and for cutting carbon fiber (the company says a traditional toothed blade is still best for cutting softer materials like aluminum and plastic).
The company says the grit-edge blade won’t damage the matrix surrounding carbon and kevlar fibers, and leaves a smooth cut edge that requires no sanding. The blade cuts both on push and pull stroke, providing more control and less vibration. The blades also last longer than standard metal toothed blades, especially when cutting difficult materials like composites.
The Carbocut handle is aluminum and its frame is steel.
