Giant Bicycles, working in conjunction with the Consumer Product Safety Commission, has voluntarily recalled two of their 2012 models due to fork problems.
The 2012 Defy Advanced 0, 1 and 2 as well as the women’s Avail Advanced 0, 1 and 2 models all use a fork that can crack, causing a fall hazard. Approximately 900 units are affected, of varying colors and sizes. No injuries have been reported.
The bikes were sold nationwide by Giant Bicycle dealers from August 2011 through November 2011.
Consumers with an affected bike should immediately stop riding and contact an authorized Giant dealer for free inspection and replacement of the fork.
