No amount of waterproofing is worth it if a jacket’s fit is baggy, uncomfortable and flapping like a shredded parachute. Pearl Izumi’s latest iteration of the Elite WxB rain jacket features sublime fit in the riding position, with slim sleeves rotated forward to avoid flapping in the wind. The lightweight WxB 2.5-layer-membrane fabric and taped seams are not just watertight, they allow your body to breathe and avoid the dreaded “greenhouse” effect as you heat up. If you need extra cooling, the full zipper can be opened from the bottom or top, and the back of the jacket hangs low to prevent soaking from spray. With hi-vis highlights the jacket is near-perfect. We say near-perfect because we’d love it to come with an integrated stuff sack. We’d like to put this thing in our pocket every day as easy insurance for changing conditions. Range: 50 to 70 degrees F. Available in Black or Screaming Yellow. $160
