Lazer has combined the light weight, cool looks, and great fit of the Z1 with LifeBeam, an Ant+ and Bluetooth-compatible heart rate sensor for riders who loathe heart rate straps.
The LifeBeam sensor fits within the helmet and presses against your forehead to read your heart rate, and it’s so small you’ll never notice it. A wire runs through the helmet to a battery unit that mounts on the back of the helmet, and while that may seem like a lot of extra kit on your head, fret not: The entire helmet only weighs 190 grams, and the LifeBeam adds a paltry 45 grams, according to Lazer. That’s still lighter than most helmets.
The Z1 also features an adjustable fit harness that tightens and loosens via a small dial on the top of the helmet. It’s smooth and easy to use, and provides a snug, comfortable fit.
Add an aero shell (sold separately) to turn the Z1 into an aero helmet, or to protect yourself from the elements during shoulder seasons. Simply put, the Z1 is one of our favorite helmets, and LifeBeam only makes us love it more.
