Looking for a shoe to match your Scott Foil? The Scott Road RC SL may be the ticket.

Scott touts its Carbitex upper for its high tensile strength that supposedly improves power transfer, as well as its wraparound fit.

We can confirm the fit — the upper conforms to the foot without any pinch points. One downside: Carbitex doesn’t seem to be breathable at all.

To counter this, Scott incorporates mesh over the toe, on the instep, and at the front of the carbon outsole. Still, don’t expect a lot of airflow here.

The HMX carbon outsole feels exceptionally stiff and supportive, which was noticeable during hard sprints and sustained climbs.

The forefoot offers plenty of room for the wide-footed, though there was so much space we considered sizing down.
