Havik Full Yellow_Grey

Giro’s vision was 20-20 when it signed Alberto Contador to promote its new eyewear line. He debuted the shades en route to winning the Tour de France in 2007, then added some extra sparkle with victories at the Giro d’Italia and Vuelta a España the next year.

Winning three grand tours in 14 months is a pretty big deal, and Giro is saluting its champion with a trio of limited-edition Havik shades in commemorative yellow, pink and gold.

Five hundred shades in each color will be available for $170 each. The temples are vented, as are the full-size lenses. All feature Giro’s Zeiss 7-base polycarbonate lens, which filters 100 percent of UV rays and, according to Giro, provides incredibly sharp, clear vision.

The yellow Tour frame features a full-size Zeiss Gray lens. The pink Giro frame sports a compact Zeiss Rose Silver lens, while the gold Vuelta frame has a full-size Zeiss Brown Bronze lens.

Contador and Astana teammate Levi Leipheimer will ride in Giro eyewear this season, as will the Garmin-Slipstream, Bissell Pro Cycling and Rabobank teams, and mountain bikers Adam Craig and Barry Wicks.
