Unbound Gravel, the biggest event in gravel cycling, is fast approaching and this year there are more ways than ever to follow along.
The event encompasses multiple distances, from 25 miles all the way to the mettle-testing 350-mile Unbound XL, but it’s the 200-mile event that draws the most attention and top riders from around the world.
Out of the 5,000 cyclists descending on Emporia, Kansas to race across all the distances, 180 elite men and 95 elite women will be vying for the prestigious overall win in the 200. That total includes a combined 40 participants from the Life Time Grand Prix series and 30 men’s wild card riders and 14 women’s wild card riders vying for a spot in the series for the rest of the season.
The 200 kicks off early on Saturday, May 31 at 5:50 a.m. Central Time with the elite men, followed soon after by the elite women at 6:05.
How to follow along with Unbound Gravel 200
Velo will be providing live updates right here on the site from our crew following the epic race through the Flint Hills of Kansas. Check in often from race start to finish for all the latest.
This year, the race’s producer Life Time has introduced a live stream broadcast beginning approximately four hours into the race, at 10 a.m. Central Time. You can find the broadcast on the Life Time Grand Prix YouTube channel.
The live stream will run through the conclusion of the men’s and women’s elite 200 races, and has lined up a strong commentary team of gravel pro Payson McElveen (currently out of racing with an injury), former road/cyclocross pro Meredith Miller, and longstanding cycling announcer Bill Elliston. Legendary MTB and road racers Nat Ross and Lauren Hall will be providing live updates from the course.
