Now in its fourth year, the PELOTON Gravel MOB in Ojai, California has earned a reputation for big climbs, epic vistas and a one hell of an after party. At just 58miles some riders can be fooled into thinking it’s not a big day in the saddle. They’re wrong! Two massive dirt climbs, a challenging ride across the ridge and a single track descent add up to almost 8000′ of climbing – all on dirt.

Want to be ready? Come to Ojai for the PELOTON Gravel MOB Recon Camp on October 13,14,15 and recon the course like a pro. You’ll get a chance to ride the entire course over two days, dial in gearing and tire selection, plus learn about the nutrition you’ll need to keep the legs fresh all day.

You’ll ride with editors from PELOTON, our partners from The Mob Shop and the 2015 Dirty Kanza 200 champ, Yuri Hauswald. We’ll all be there to share our local knowledge with you. The rides will be fully supported and challenging, but leave plenty of time for off the bike fun. You’ll get a chance to experience Ojai’s unique atmosphere and great food during your weekend with us.

The PELOTON Gravel MOB Recon Camp Schedule*
The Week Before Camp your welcome kit will be sent to you with a PELOTON Kit, MOB Shop T-shirt, detailed schedule, route info and other critical information, plus swag from our great sponsors.

Friday, October 13th
You’ll check into The Capri Hotel in Ojai at 4:00pm then we’ll ride e-bikes to PELOTON’s Service Course for a welcome party/dinner and nutrition talk from GU’s Yuri Hauswald.

Saturday, October 14th
We’ll have breakfast at the Capri Hotel before rolling out to ride the massive Sisar Climb, across the Nordhoff Ridge and then back into Ojai via the Howard Creek trail and Rose Valley road – the second half of the race course. We’ll ride straight to the East End of Ojai for lunch among the vineyards of the Ojai Olive Oil Company. SRAM Neutral Support will be waiting at The Capri to wash and tune your bike for tomorrow’s ride.

After a bit of recovery we’ll hop on the e-bikes and do some wine tasting before dinner at one of Ojai’s best restaurants.

Sunday, October 15th
After another breakfast brought into the Capri Hotel, we’ll head out to ride Sulphur Mountain, the first climb on the route. This is a shorter day and will get you back to the Capri hotel for a quick lunch and plenty of time to pack and check out before heading home.

After the PELOTON Gravel MOB Recon Camp you’ll be ready! Plus, you’ll also get entry into the 2017 PELOTON Gravel Mob on November18th with your camp registration so no excuses!

*Schedule not final and subject to change.

The camp includes:
Lodging, all meals from dinner on Friday evening to lunch on Sunday afternoon as well as beer and wine (limited to what is provided).

Both rides are full supported with nutrition, hydration and SRAM Neutral Support (when we’re not on dirt climbs or single track!). SRAM Neutral will be on site at the Capri Hotel to wash and tune your bike on Saturday afternoon as well.

Each registered rider will also get a pre-camp package with a PELOTON kit from Castelli, a T-shirt from the MOB shop and swag from our sponsors.

Entry into the 2017 PELOTON Gravel Mob on November 18th.

All told the PELOTON Gravel MOB Recon Camp package is worth well over $1000!

What kind of bike do you need?
A ‘cross bike is minimum here. 40mm tires are a big help at the bottom of Sisar, where it’s steep and rocky. Low gears are your friend. But as nasty as a few sections are, a ‘cross or gravel bike is the fastest way to complete the route. Of course, if you are more comfortable on a hardtail mountain bike, that’s fine too.
