“It is impossible for Tony to start Friday’s stage,” Lefevere told French radio station Europe 1.
The 30-year-old German — who took the overall lead on Tuesday — is the second yellow jersey wearer to exit the race in a matter of days after Fabian Cancellara bowed out on Monday with two broken vertebrae.
