After an anonymous race Saturday at the Versluys Cyclocross Bredene 2013 World Champion, Sven Nys (Crelan KDL Cycling Team), closed out the year with victory at the Superprestige Diegem, Sunday, December 29th. Held near Brussels, the sixth round of the Superprestige Series saw Nys led from start to finish. With a comfortable 21second margin over Tom Meeusen (Telenet-Fidea Cycling Team), Nys was able to walk his Colnago across the line, holding it over his head to honor his longtime sponsor. The World Champion will be moving to Trek for the 2014 season.
Sven Nys claimed it was his best ride in more than five years and left third place, Niels Albert (BKCP-Powerplus Cycling Team), hoping his fellow Belgian has peaked to early for the World Championships.
Zednek Stybar (Omega Pharma-QuickStep), was a distant fourth.
