Niner introduced their new version of the Jet 9 and Air 9 at the Sea Otter Classic. This year’s Jet 9 with 80mm of travel gets a tapered 1.5-inch headset that not only stiffens up the front end on its own, but also allows for a larger diameter downtube, increasing stiffness that much more. Other improvements include several 3D forged pieces that both reduce the amount of welding, and, you guessed it, increase stiffness as well. Look for the Jet 9 at your local shop in about a month.

The Air 9 has a new magnesium head tube badge that doubles as a portal to internal cable/housing routing, in addition to Niner’s CYA (yep, that’s what it stands for) bottom bracket insert system, and interchangeable dropouts to accommodate a singlespeed or geared set-up. The singlespeed version on display was rumored to weigh in at 18lbs, but was not confirmed — nor denied. The Air 9 should be available in approximately two months.
