Mark Weir’s Marin County home burned to the ground on Sunday, according to Bicycle Retailer and Industry News.

Weir, his wife Sue and infant son Gus escaped the fire without injuries after being alerted by a fire alarm system. The fire broke out in the garage and spread throughout their home in Novato, according to BRAIN’s Jason Norman.

Weir, seven-time winner of the Downieville Downhill, is WTB’s public relations manager and a pro racer on the company’s team. Weir’s WTB co-worker and  teammate Jason Moeschler pulled up on the scene Sunday evening as the street was closed by fire trucks. Moeschler said that Weir’s garage contained “one of the most magnificent collections of high end bikes ever assembled, not to mention the lifetime collection of tools and cycling memorabilia.

“It claimed everything in the garage,” Moeschler added.
