Carlos Sastre will give a press conference Thursday in Madrid to reveal what his future will hold.
Sastre, 36, has already confirmed that he will not race with Geox-TMC next season and hinted that he might be retiring.
“The most important thing is to make a firm decision,” Sastre said after the Vuelta concluded Sunday in Madrid. “I have offers and I will meet with my family and friends to come to a decision about my future.”
The 2008 Tour de France champion suggested he has not been satisfied with his experience at Geox-TMC, which he joined this year following the collapse of the Cervélo team at the end of last season.
Sastre had a one-year deal with an option to continue, but told Spanish TV he would not continue with Geox-TMC.
Sastre has not been at his best this season, riding to 20th in the Vuelta and 30th in the Giro d’Italia. His best result was third overall at the Tour of Austria in July.
The veteran Spanish climber remains one of the most durable riders in the peloton, however. The 2011 Vuelta was his 26th grand tour of his career and he completed all but one of those.
