U.S. juniors Logan Owen, Curtis White go 1-2 in Namur

NAMUR, Belgium (VN) — Trek’s Katie Compton wasn’t the only American national champion to stand atop a podium in Namur on Sunday — Redline’s Logan Owen won the juniors race in dominating fashion.
The reigning U.S. 17-18 champ rode to his own muddy triumph in 43:04, more than two minutes ahead of yet another countryman, Curtis White (Hot Tubes). White, in turn, finished 47 seconds ahead of third-placed Gianni Van Donink (Telenet-Fidea).
Capping off a fine performance by the U.S. contingent were David Lombardo (Verdigris-Village Cyclocross), who finished seventh, and Stephen Bassett (Bob’s Red Mill), who scored 10th place on the day, one up on Josey Welk (ISCorp).
The five are among the Americans are taking part in Geoff Proctor’s EuroCrossCamp X.
Owen won all four of the U.S. Gran Prix of Cyclocross events he entered this season en route to finishing second overall. He sits fourth in the UCI cyclocross rankings with 55 points, while White ranks eighth with 33. Mathieu Van der Poel (BKCP) tops the standings with 180 points.
Owen also holds fourth in the World Cup series, which is likewise led by Van der Poel. White sits 15th in the series. Namur was not a World Cup event for juniors or under-23 men.
