Jamie Driscoll (Raleigh-Clement) and Katie Compton (Trek Factory Racing) claimed victories on the third day of racing at the Cincy3 Cyclocross Festival Sunday.
The races took place at Devou Park in Covington, Kentucky, just across the Ohio River from Cincinnati.
Compton’s win in the women’s race earned her the first ever women’s elite Pan American Championship title. Meredith Miller (Noosa) claimed second and Georgia Gould (Luna) was third.
Compton had mechanical troubles on the first two days of racing at Cincy3 but was able to overcome them on Sunday.
“Wow, that was an insanely hard race,” Miller said on Twitter afterward. “It was technical and punchy and awesome. Very stoked to have finished 2nd in the inaugural CX Pan Ams!”
The elite men’s race saw the absence of day 2 winner Jeremy Powers (Rapha-Focus), which opened the field to others looking for a victory.
Driscoll and teammate Ben Berden pulled away mid-race, and were joined by a handful of others at the front. But the duo found themselves alone with just over a lap remaining after their co-leaders fell back to due to crashes and flats.
Berden took second and Cameron Dodge (Pure Energy-Scott) was third.
Other Pan American Championships winners on the day were Gage Hecht (Alpha Vista Subaru), 17-18 Junior Men; Maghalie Rochette (Luna), U23 Women; and Curtis White (CCB Racing), U23 Men.
