The official name of the big shindig happening through the weekend in Mont Saint Anne, Quebec is the UCI Mountain Bike & Trials World Championships.

That said, trials riding — an oddly fascinating spectacle that flies below most people’s radar — is the proverbial red-headed stepchild of the cycling world. Omnipresent cycling photographer Dave McElwaine spent an afternoon with the trials kids — and they were all right.
