Not sure which helmet cam to buy? Maybe you’re just too cheap to fork over the cash for something you may not use very often.
If so, Adventure Eye Video Systems has an answer for your helmet-cam questions. The company offers online rentals of point-of-view video cameras to consumers for their outdoor adventures.
Adventure Eye has partnered with GoPro, Liquid Image, Samsung, VholdR, and V.I.O., and has chosen a variety of cameras from their lines that regular folks can rent for mountain biking and a host of other activities. Through the Adventure Eye Video Systems Online Rental program people can rent a POV without having to purchase one. For a $100 rental fee, consumers use a camera for a full 14 days. The rental fee covers the camera rental, shipping both ways, and damage waivers ($75 without the waiver). The 14-day rental clock starts the day after receipt of the camera, and the camera needs to be in the mail the day after the 14-day rental period ends.
Hammond, Louisiana-based Adventure Eye Video Systems began rental programs of wearable, point-of-view video camera systems to outdoor recreation tour operators and retail establishments in 2007, and recently began renting cameras directly to consumers through its Web portal. The company’s rental programs are designed to match the appropriate camera with the appropriate activity.
