Bobby Julich has been hired as a consultant to the BMC Racing Team, the squad announced Sunday.
Julich will work closely with performance manager Allan Peiper in the areas of training, individual coaching, equipment testing and overall performance strategies, according to president and general manager Jim Ochowicz.
Peiper said Julich brings a wealth of experience to the team at a crucial time of the season.
“I am really excited with Bobby’s involvement and his ideas on coaching and on the streamlining of our training department,” Peiper said.
Julich, meanwhile, said he is eager to pass along his expertise.
“I love the sport of cycling and feel I have a lot to offer,” he said.
Julich left Team Sky in 2012 after confessing to using performance-enhancing substances during his pro career. He had acted as a race coach for Sky since 2011, when he left his longtime post as technical adviser with Bjarne Riis at Saxo Bank.
