Clarke, Allar win USA Cycling NCC titles

Allar wins the final race of the series to secure her overall victory

Hilton Clarke (UnitedHealthcare) and Erica Allar (CARE4CYCLING-Solomon Corp) were crowned the winners of the 2013 USA Cycling National Criterium Calendar after the series concluded on Saturday.

Clarke (1,544 points) clinched his national series win before the TD Bank Cup in Boston on Saturday. Finishing second to Clarke was his teammate Carlos Alzate (1,336 points), while Luke Keough (1,287) took third to make it an all-UHC podium.

In Boston, Keough rode to victory over Shane Kline (SmartStop-Mountain Khakis) and Keough’s brother and teammate Jake. Luke Keough also won last week’s USA CRITS finals in Las Vegas.

UnitedHealthcare crushed everyone in the men’s overall team standings, racking up 5,352 points — significantly more than SmartStop, which had 2,021. Jamis-Hagens Berman placed third with 646.

On the women’s side, Allar took second in Vegas and won the race in Boston to secure her overall series victory with 1,555 points. Laura Van Gilder (Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers) was second overall with 1,103 points, while Theresa Cliff-Ryan (Fearless Femme-Pure Energy Cycling Vie13) was third with 824.

Val Gilder came in second to Allar in Boston; Samantha Schneider (Tibco-To The Top) was third.

CARE4CYCLING accumulated 2,216 points to claim the women’s team title in the series, with Tibco (1,150) and Colavita-Fine Cooking (1,121) following.
