Belgian Igor Decraene won the junior men’s time trial at the UCI Elite Road World Championships on Tuesday.

Decraene was the penultimate rider to roll off the start ramp in the 21.8-kilometer race, and he clocked the fastest time at each of the two checkpoints before the finish in Florence, Italy.

Finishing second was Denmark’s Mathias Krigbaum, who was 8.66 seconds behind Decraene’s result of 26:56.83. American Zeke Mostov was third, 20.97 seconds adrift.

“It was a bit of a surprise, I was just hoping for a top 10,” Mostov said. “I’ve done three stage races, I’ve had some good placings, but I didn’t think I’d be the third best in the world.”
