Cobble — What a retirement gift the Flanders crown would be for the man many assert is the best classics rider of his generation. Even those who believe Tom Boonen deserves that honor may be forced to reconsider if Fabian Cancellara manages to take yet another monument in his final season. Cancellara knows this, and it’s made him hungry. In fact, he seems hungrier than any time since 2013, when he doubled up at Flanders and Roubaix. His Strade Bianche win was born of the brute force he built a career on, a good sign. At Harelbeke, he had a mechanical and chased for 40 kilometers, and still came in fourth.
