Teutenberg, Peanut Butter & Co. lead Women’s Prestige Series

Following a convincing overall win at the Redlands Classic in March, Ina-Yoko Teutenberg (HTC-Columbia) leads the individual standings of the Women’s Prestige Series. Teutenberg left Redlands without a stage win, but she rode a GC-shattering breakaway into the overall lead in stage 2 and wrapped up the GC in the final stage Sunset Loop Road Race.

“It’s really nice to hold the lead in the Women’s Prestige Cycling Series,” Teutenberg said. “The series has really taken off over the last few years. It is exactly what women’s cycling needs and it’s evident in the number of starters who line up in Redlands and continue on to the Nature Valley Grand Prix and the Cascade Classic. This year, the Tour of the Gila is in the series, which is another of my favorite races.”

Redlands was the series kick off for 2010 and the individual standings are a mirror image of the final overall. Katharine Carroll (Peanut Butter & Co. TWENTY 12) sits second and Alexis Rhodes (Vera Bradley Foundation) is third.

Teutenberg also leads the sprint classification with a 55-point lead over Coryn Rivera (Peanut Butter & Co.), while Rivera’s teammate Mara Abbott leads the young rider competition over Rebecca Much (TIBCO-To The Top).

“I think it is wonderful that these events choose to highlight the women’s competitions,” Abbott said. “All of them are well run, enjoyable races and I am proud to be able to be a representative of their efforts to support my sport.”

With Carroll, Rivera and Abbott each high in the classifications, Peanut Butter & Co. leads the team classification by 114 points over HTC-Columbia and 187 points over Vera Bradley Foundation.
