San Fernando is porn’s hideaway
Editor:
Jed Schneider may hold a master’s degree in geography from the University of Kansas, which keeps him from getting lost in Flanders, but he’s way off on where his porn comes from (see “Tales from the gutter: Mark gets the win!”).
San Fernando Valley is the porn capital of the world, not Orange County. Orange County is a conservative hotbed, home to Bible-beaters, the Richard Nixon Library, the Orange County Register and the Ayn Rand institute.

Best race deserves best riders
Editor:
No Mario in the Tour because his team “is not good in the mountains” is as logical as excluding Lance because he “doesn’t contest the sprints.” Incidentally, Michele Scarponi of Domina Vacanze, climbs well – fourth in Liege and currently 10th on GC in the Giro.
The best riders should be in the world’s biggest race. Period. Dave Campbell

Quit bashing Cipo’, start bashing McEwen
Editor:
I’m extremely tired of the bum rap that Cipo’ gets for not finishing races. Cipo ‘did not write the book on this practice, granted, it’s not cool, but he is not the sole practioner of this “ride when I want” attitude.
Since the start of this Giro, McEwen has not made any effort to mask the fact that he is using the Giro for some quick glory and a bit of a tune-up for that other race, “The Tour de Farce.” He has extended his stay due to results, but was clear about not finishing.
Why don’t we strip McEwen of his stage wins? It is especially irritating that he stole success from Cipo’ and recklessly contributed to the crash that totaled Cipo’. It was his reckless abandon which pushed the terrifying pace in a suicide fashion.

Take my Games, please
Editor:
Paris has officially tendered a bid to host the 2012 Olympic Games. They will not be inviting many really fast runners and really good jumpers from around the world, saying that these people would prove to be quite a nuisance to local waiters and might stand in the way of fine French athletes winning medals. “Patrick O’Grady” has to be made up
Editor:
I don’t think Patrick O’Grady is real. That sounds a little too Irish for someone in Colorado (See “Dog breath: Making ’em up”). In fact I think this is all fake and I’m hooked up as in the Matrix. Neo

Sadly, Patrick O’Grady is all too real. The rest of us here at VeloNews, however, are not. “John Wilcockson,” for example, is a massive database containing every bit of cycling information amassed since the invention of the velocipede, while “Charles Pelkey” is its search engine. —Editor
