Velo magazine — December 2015

The December issue of Velo magazine features the best photography of the year, as well as the holiday gift guide, and a steel bikes test.

As the year winds down, we decided to look back on the season’s best photography for our final issue of 2015. The December edition of Velo magazine features 33 beautiful images that we feel capture some of the most important moments in bicycle racing from the last 12 months.

Of course, we’d be remiss if we didn’t include much of the great written content and reporting that is always part of the magazine. To lead off, Caley Fretz takes a close look at the new North American Cycle Sport (NACS) organization, which aims to challenge USA Cycling as an alternate race-sanctioning body, particularly for recreational events. Also in VeloNotes, Ryan Newill waxes poetic about the close relationship between cyclocross racers and their mechanics.

With the holidays around the corner, we sent our tech team out to find some of the best gift ideas for cyclists, and we think they hit the jackpot with some stylish kit, cool tech, and other fun goodies featured in our 2015 gift guide. And if you’re looking for a really, really special gift, keep reading through the December issue. You’ll find a VeloLab test of four timeless, handmade steel bikes. One these steeds would truly be a gift that keeps on giving.

And it’s not all about gear either — Trevor Connor’s training column explains how to use cross-training to boost your fitness and resilience in the off-season.
