Ang’s articles are some of the best reading I have had on VeloNews.I don’t quite understand everything, but being from Denver and knowingStalker No. 1 I found this last article downright hilarious.Zinc Man is a legend in Denver and it’s always great to see him showup for an occasional race with the old school helmet and knee high socks.I haven’t seen him race though in a couple years. I just finished reading Young Guns: “It’s all just so cary-zee” forthe third time, and I’m not even going to debate whether this articleis appropriate for a cycling publication. I would find it inappropriate forany publication, with maybe the exception of Schizophrenia Monthly.There is one thing this article did for me. I now only have to readO’Grady’s pieces once to understand them.

I’ve got to agree with you and your colleague in this article (see”Friday’sfoaming rant: Wave dynamics revisited“).There are too many stuck-up/insecure pricks riding out there who don’thave the common courtesy of a five-year-old. Maybe another explanationfor this anti-social behavior could be that they spent so much money ontheir cool Ti whatever that they couldn’t afford a saddle, and arethus forever relegated to long rides on a non-lubricated seat post. Thatwould certainly explain the unfriendly behavior.Anyway, I feel better now. Thanks for the rant.And by the way, my faith in humanity was restored this weekend at mysecond Cat 5 crit’. Unlike the first race, I met scores of cool folkswilling to help out, answer my newbie questions, and just shoot the bullin general. I look forward to more experiences like that, and returningthe courtesy when the shoe is on the other foot.

You hit the nail on the head with that one!! I don’t understand it,but as long as I’ve been riding (30+ years), this has been the case. Historically, I’ve found that mountain bikers are friendlier. Sometimes, my wife and I will yell at riders and force them to acknowledge us.See you on the road – I’ll wave.
