Man, this was a tough day. Like I’ve said here for a few days, I am feeling a whole lot better on the bike, and I sure needed to be, because this was tough! I have to say I’ve never suffered as much on the bike as I did today for the first 40km of this stage. I just cannot remember ever doing a stage this fast on terrain like that. The young Italian Filippo Pozzato (Fassa Bortolo) scored a great win in the 204.5km stage 7 from Chateaubriant to St-Brieuc. He rode hard, but more importantly, he rode smart, applying his energy just when it was necessary. The race was thrown into a bit of disarray when the peloton was split in two with 45km to go.
