Here's the last fabulous five out of 2010's top ten.
2. Proliferation of U23/Development Teams
The future may look back to 2010 and say that was the year American cross-country racing started to make a comeback.
3. North American Women
On any given day at an elite World Cup cross-country event in 2010, a woman from Canada or the U.S. had a legit shot at the podium.
4. Two-Niners and Fisher/Trek consolidation
It was one thing when mountain bike pioneer Gary Fisher took his 29er crusade to the masses. It was another when, in 2010, he made the Subaru-Gary Fisher mountain bike team 29er all the time.
5. Carbon MTB Wheels
The final frontier in carbon mountain bike parts has been broached – carbon wheelsets.
1. Redbull Rampage
The Red Bull rampage came back to the red-rock landscape of Virgin, Utah in 2010.
6. World Cup Downhill Duel
Windham, New York was the high-noon showdown between the top two downhill gunslingers in the world — Santa Cruz Syndicate's Greg Minnaar and Gee Atherton of Commencal.
7. Leadville Trail 100
Say what you will about the Leadville Trail 100, it ain't easy no matter how it's sliced.
8. Fox Racing Shox
Fox knocked it out of the park with its 2010 F100 FIT RLC. The only question we had after that review was how Fox will possibly improve upon its wares for 2011.
