Americans Abroad: U.S. riders at the Giro
Several Americans are riding in the Giro d'Italia peloton, while a handful of others competed at different races. Here's the roundup.

The American men were in The Netherlands over the weekend for the opening stages of the Giro d’Italia. Ian Boswell, Joe Dombrowski, Nathan Brown, Joey Rosskopf, Larry Warbasse, and Chad Haga began racing the first grand tour of the season Friday in Apeldoorn’s individual time trial.
The time trial was won by Haga’s teammate Dutchman Tom Dumoulin. Saturday and Sunday were sprint stages, both won by Marcel Kittel of Etixx – Quick-Step.
The race resumes Tuesday, giving everyone involved with the race an extra day to travel to southern Italy for stage 4.
Ian Boswell (Sky)
Boswell is riding for Sky’s newest GC hopeful Mikel Landa in the Giro. After Sunday’s third stage, he sits in 110th place, 2:39 behind current leader Kittel.
Nathan Brown (Cannondale)
Riding for Rigoberto Uran, Brown is 156th overall, 7:10 behind Kittel. Uran is less than a minute out of the overall lead.
Chris Blevins
The 18 year-old Blevins won the four day Czech race the Course de la Paix Juniors. He took the overall lead after a fourth-place finish on day three. He beat Russian Evgenii Kazanov by 24 seconds, with a total time of 9:28:10.
Joe Dombrowski (Cannondale)
Dombrowski is another helper for Uran on the Cannondale squad. After the third day of racing, he is in 177th place, 8:38 behind the maglia rosa.
Chad Haga (Giant – Alpecin)
Haga is the top-placed American in the Giro peloton, in ninth at 25 seconds back. His teammate Dumoulin is in second place, 9 ticks behind Kittel.
Alison Tetrick (Cylance)
Tetrick was one of two American women racing the Tour of Chongmong Island World Cup in China last week. She was 81st overall, 6:12 behind winner Chloe Hosking (Wiggle – High5).
Joey Rosskopf (BMC Racing)
After Sunday’s third Giro stage, Rosskopf is 147th overall, 6:54 behind Kittel.
Larry Warbasse (IAM Cycling)
Warbasse currently sits 108th in the Giro’s GC, 2:33 back.
Erica Zaveta (Cylance)
Zaveta was the second American in the Chinese race. She finished 94th, 27:08 behind Hosking.
