France has named its men’s elite team for the UCI Road World Championships later this month in Florence, Italy. Among the selection are French champion Arthur Vichot (FDJ.fr), Alpe d’Huez winner at this year’s Tour de France Christoph Riblon (Ag2r La Mondiale), and late addition Thomas Voeckler (Europcar).

Time trial national champion Sylvain Chavanel (Omega Pharma-Quick Step) will line up with Jéremy Roy (FDJ.fr) in the race against the clock on Wednesday, September 25, but neither will start the road race on September 29. Instead of the attacking veterans, young riders like Vuelta a España stage winner Warren Barguil (Argos-Shimano) and Tour de l’Ain winner Romain Bardet (Ag2r La Mondiale) will wear the tricolor in Sunday’s climber-friendly event in Tuscany.

The world championships open Sunday, September 22 with the team time trial and conclude with the men’s road race on September 29.
