PARIS (AFP) – Slovenia cyclist Janez Brajkovic, the winner of the 2010 Criterium du Dauphine, has rejoined Astana, the Kazakhstan team announced on Friday.
“With Roman Kreuziger they will form a key partnership for the main Tours and will be groomed to become leaders of the team. They will also be able to benefit from the experience of Alexandre Vinokourov,” said Astana manager Giuseppe Martinelli.
The 27-year-old Brajkovic, a former world under-23 time trial champion, rejoins Astana after spells with Discovery Channel, Astana and Radioshack. He was forced out of this year’s Tour de France in the first week after a fall.
